The light vehicle aftermarket is a $160 billion industry servicing the passenger car, light truck and sport utility markets with over 2 million replacement parts, service items, performance and accessory components.
Parts are distributed through the supply chain by an efficient network of raw material and component suppliers, manufacturers, warehouse distributors, local retailers and wholesalers (jobbers), and professional installers or service dealers. This supply chain ensures the availability of any part needed to service any vehicle anywhere in the country, in less than an hour.
Multiple trade associations serve segments of the market and niches of the industry. Through collaboration and cooperation the volunteer members of these organizations have developed industry standards for the exchange of business transactions and data.
